INNOVATING IN HORIZONTAL SECTORS
GREATER MANCHESTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is a key strategic partner of Project#808, supporting us locally in our Manchester base whilst supporting our global ambitions.
GMCC is the largest accredited Chamber of Commerce in the UK, providing access to over 3,000 businesses in the Greater Manchester area.
COLLABORATION ON A NEW SCALE
GMCC and Project#808 have committed to working together creating innovative solutions in Greater Manchester that can be scaled across the UK and beyond.
GMCC have asked Project#808 to consider a cross sector innovation lab – to define a big challenge that is shared across vertical sectors. In other words a horizontal sector lab.
Working in partnership with GMCC, Project#808 identified shared cross-sector issues being faced by GMCC members, consulting and collaborating with business owners directly. This becomes the first step in Project#808’s problem/solution/product process.
Validating with the GMCC members experiencing the problems, Project#808 will only develop solutions where customers exist for the resulting products. This creates the unique, low risk high return investment opportunity for those businesses involved.
The resulting products will be taken to market locally before scaling nationally and Internationally through the global Chamber of Commerce networks.
AIMING FOR NET ZERO
In a GMCC quarterly survey of Greater Manchester businesses 47% indicated they are not aware of NetZero targets, and of those that were aware, 60% had no plan on how to deal with them.
The first project to emerge from the partnership centres on NetZero and sustainability. NetZero is a current hot topic worldwide, driven by both the social pressures to do better by the environment and incoming Government legislation. All businesses will need to adapt and evolve to meet NetZero targets. For many SMEs this creates potential issues.
